Health, Safety, ESL & Computer Skills Programs
The Pas Friendship Centre Inc. is proud to offer a range of free education and training programs designed to support individuals, families, newcomers, youth, and low-income households. These programs focus on workplace safety, language development, digital skills, and access to technology, helping participants build confidence, skills, and opportunities for success.
Free Online Safety & Health Training Courses
In partnership with SAFE Work Manitoba and the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS), The Pas Friendship Centre Inc. offers free access to online safety and health training courses.
Participants can:
- Create their own online accounts
- Complete training at their own pace
- Receive certificates upon successful completion
These courses are ideal for workers, newcomers, employers, youth, and individuals preparing to enter the workforce.

ESL Language & Computer Skills Program
Our ESL and Computer Skills Program supports participants in developing essential language, digital, and workplace skills. This program is ideal for newcomers, job seekers, students, and community members looking to improve their confidence with technology and communication.
Program Components
Microsoft Office 365 – Basic Suite
Participants receive comprehensive training in:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
Skills include document creation, formatting, data entry, spreadsheet basics, and professional presentation design.
Basic Canva Software
Participants are introduced to Canva, a simple and user-friendly graphic design platform. Training includes:
- Creating graphics for social media, posters, presentations, and more
- Understanding basic design principles
- Using templates, tools, and layouts
- Hands-on design practice
Keyboarding Skills
Participants will improve typing efficiency and accuracy through:
- Interactive typing drills and exercises
- Keyboard layout familiarity
- Common shortcuts for productivity
Free Computers for Low-Income Families
Signal Mothers Project
Through the Signal Mothers Project, The Pas Friendship Centre Inc. provides free computers to low-income families, helping reduce barriers to education, employment, and digital access. This initiative supports families by improving access to online learning, job searching, and essential services.

The Pas Friendship Centre Inc. offers career-related services, including job search support, career coaching, and workplace development courses. We assist with resume and cover letter writing, document scanning, and other employment needs. Additionally, we provide Computer Skills Workshops.
